11 Mar Electrolux Design Lab Competition 2015 – (Shape the future for) Healthy Happy Kids

Electrolux Design Lab is a global design competition arranged by Electrolux. Participation is open to applicants from every country worldwide and who are registered undergraduate and graduate design students (persons who are officially registered as undergraduate or graduate – Bachelor’s or Master’s degree – students at university at the time the design idea is submitted or who has completed an education during 2014). The competition accepts also students in architecture and engineering, but the person entering the competition must have conducted some design courses during their studies as the winner of the competition will receive a work replacement at a Global Electrolux Design centre, where design skills are essential.

In 2015, Electrolux Design Lab is seeking for innovative concepts for future households under the theme of Healthy Happy Kids.

Design challenge:
How can we in the future ensure that our homes are supportive environments for children to live in and grow in, in a way that enables and encourages them to become healthy, engaged and happy individuals?

Focus Areas:
We’re looking for students who want to challenge preconceptions. The concepts should be based on insights around human behaviour and improve the quality of people’s everyday lives. Submissions can be products, accessories, consumables and services for one of the following focus areas:
– Cooking: Create a design solution, that would involve and engage children in cooking and healthy eating habits.
– Fabric care: Create a design solution that makes sure that everybody in the family receives the correct treatment for the garments they care for the most.
– Air purification: Create an inspiring design solution minimizing the risks of bad air and contributing to healthier indoor air for kids.

Prizes:
This year there is double the reason to participate as all of the cash prizes for the competition are twice the amount as in previous years.
– First prize: € 10 000 and 6 months paid internship at Electrolux
– Second prize: € 6 000
– Third prize: € 4 000
– People’s Choice: € 2 000
